Do you think your representation in Washington, Raleigh, and Durham is the best it can possibly be? Or perhaps you think that if more people like you were making decisions, the U.S., North Carolina, and Durham would have better government. Then why aren’t you helping decide who runs in the primaries? Why aren’t you helping recruit candidates? Why aren’t you involved in your local county GOP? Get involved. Contact your precinct chairman and volunteer to help, ask to be kept informed of what is happening in your party. If there is no chair for your precinct, volunteer to become chair. When election time nears, donate time to advance the campaigns of your chosen candidates. Attend monthly GOP meetings. (See our calendar for times and places of meetings of the Durham County GOP and its affiliates.) We look forward to seeing you at our meetings and hearing your voice.

Headquarters Search Committee In order for the Durham GOP to really affect local politics, we need to have a long term visible presence. As a result, we are considering a “permanent” head-quarters for the Durham County Republican Party. Are you a landlord with a property you could donate to us or lease to us at a reduced rate? Are you a realtor with experience finding this type of property? Do you know of a property for lease that might work for us?
Event Planning Committee Over the last two years, we’ve held three large fundraising dinners. Most of the work that went into these events was done by a very small group of people. They need help! In addition, we’d like to expand the types of events that we are hosting.
We are looking for creative, results-oriented event planners to help us plan, promote, sell tickets for, and carry out events such as our Christmas Party, Lincoln-Douglass Dinner, and Fall Fundraiser, as well as a Speaker Series that we’d like to start.

Social Media Committee Social Media is the new media. We have been on Facebook and Twitter for a while. However, if we are not posting compelling posts to Facebook or regularly Tweeting, we lose the interest of our followers. So we need some folks who are savvy with Social Media to help with this aspect. We’re also looking for folks who can write or blog about Durham events and politics for our website on occasion.
Social Committee Can you help us foster friendships and camaraderie with fellow Republicans through fun social events?
Precinct Chair Recruit block captains for your precinct. Be responsible for calling block captains and keeping them informed and motivated. You are a voting member of the Executive Committee and should attend monthly meetings to help strategize and plan the direction of the Durham GOP.
Block Captain Build relationships and Get out the Vote with Republicans in your
neighborhood.
Election Day Workers Volunteer to be a Chief Judge, Republican Judge, Poll Assistant, Poll Observer or Electioneer.
Fundraising/Finance Committee We’ve done a great job raising money for the Durham County Republican Party. We need to expand upon this success. In order for this to happen, we need folks who have fundraising experience to help.
